Uniform-Wire: Independence Day, Nathan's Hotdog Contest, Nascar, MLB Caps

We can’t think of a better way to start your morning (Gonna have to be afternoon today due to the editor getting back from celebrating his first wedding anniversary) than getting uniform news wired right to you from Alternate Uni.

So grab your coffee (or some lunch) and read up on some of today’s uniform news.

Good afternoon uniform fans! Hope everyone enjoyed celebrating Independence Day. It really is a blessing to be able to live in the United States of America and to live freely.

A grateful thank you to all those in our U.S. military who continue to defend our freedom and liberty daily.

Here’s what you might have missed in the uni-world while you were celebrating.

Everybody likes a good hot dog on July 4th. This guy likes to celebrate by eating 61 franks and winning this sweet championship belt (He also got engaged!).

Joey Chestnut continued his dominant run through the world of competitive eating, winning his eighth Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in a row by eating 61 hot dogs in 10 minutes. He defeated Matt Stonie by five hot dogs.

Nascar is definitly an American thing. Nascar drivers like to show their American pride with some really awesome paint jobs.

Major League Baseball always like’s to come out with some patriotic hats for July 4th. But, here is a great breakdown of how those hats have evolved over the years.

Originally a gesture of patriotism, MLB teams began wearing small American flag patches on the left side of their caps on Independence Day, 2002. This would continue for six seasons, but in an effort to sell more merchandise, MLB and New Era created a series of flag-themed hats to be worn on the national holiday ever since.

Possible Navy football jersey leak here.

The University of South Florida is adding a lot of shine to their football helmets this season. Check out the video here.
