Uni-Wire: MLB All-Star Caps, Baylor Throwback Uniforms, Oklahoma Alternates and More

We can’t think of a better way to start your morning than getting uniform news wired right to you from Alternate Uni.

So grab your coffee and read up on some of today’s uniform news.

Good morning uniform fans!

Any body out there ready for the MLB All-Star game? Our friends over at Uni-Watch break down the MLB All-Star caps.

That’s one of the things I’ve always loved about the MLB All-Star Game. The players wear their regular uniforms, creating a crazy quilt of colors and designs. It’s so much better than the one-off all-star uniforms trotted out each year by the NFL, NBA, and NHL, which are always terrible.

Who didn’t like the Baylor throwback uniforms worn against the Texas Longhorns last season?

The Baylor athletic department auctioned off 100 of the uniforms — replicas of the jerseys the Baylor Bears wore back in 1950 — after the game, and they sold like hotcakes.

Here’s a little FanSided coverage of the Oklahoma alternate uniforms that were released recently.

Other teams are embracing the trend as well, like the Baylor Bears. The University of Oklahoma has been a team to resist the trend with their classic uniforms, like a lot of the big traditional powerhouse schools. They won’t abandon their traditional uniform but they are unveiling an alternate uniform that will be worn on occasion.

Bobby Petrino is making is second debut for the Lousiville Cardinals this season and will have his team trotting out in all-black uniforms.

New uniforms, crazy combinations and chrome helmets have been all the rage in college football over the last few years. Now, well it appears a new trend is catching fire, as Louisville becomes the latest school to go all-black on us.
